We have upgraded our xTool D1 Laser engraver.

The xTool is one of the better open frame laser engravers/cutters. We bought the xTool D1 10 Watt 455nm laser and is pretty awesome as it is. But just after we purchased it, xTool bought out the Pro version and if we had know this we would have waited and got the pro version with the 20 Watt Diode Laser as well as a few other nice things like the rail stop switches etc.

However xTool have bought out a 20 watt 455nm laser module that will fit the D1. Which is awesome and as of 5 days ago we purchased that new module laser head.

We also purchased the extension kit doubling the size the usable engraving area form 430mm x 400mm working area to 936mm x 432mm. We also have the enclosure and fan system for the D1 so we purchased the extension kit for the enclosure as well.

Standard xTool D1 and the enclosure kit.

We will also be getting xTool 1064nm infrared laser module as well. That means we will have the 10 Watt, 20 Watt and the 1064nm. Eventually we will also be getting the upgraded fire detection and CO2 extinguishers

I (Nighthawk) and not we (and Xaria) ... lol I will be also upgrading a few other things like adding drag chains, and Z axis upgrades.  The only thing I really wish there could be an upgrade on the D1 is the rail limit switches but unfortunately I can not see this happening as it would need a whole new mother board etc... However the the current system is definitely usable and is still an awesome open frame desktop laser machine.

Upgrades still to come

We are in the next few months going to be purchasing the "Makeblock xTool Laserbox Rotary 40W Smart Desktop Laser Engraver & Cutter" and while this is a big investment for us we do have plans.

We are at present sticking with xTool and the NZ supplier 3DMax as we have been very quality and service.
